The One True Friend

"[Jesus is the only true friend who]...loves at all times....." (Pro 17:17).

"A blessed thing it is for any man or woman to have a friend; one human soul whom we can trust utterly; who knows the best and the worst of us, and who loves us in spite of all our faults; who will speak the honest truth to us, while the world flatters us to our face, and laughs at us behind our back." - Charles Kingsley

Even the closest of our friends that we have can hear all of our problems only up to a certain extent, after that they cannot be able to bear the burden that we let loose and may even stumble if we do not stop our fuming, fretting and complaining attitude. But one friend who never stops listening to you no matter how much time you tell him the same problems is Jesus. He not only listens, but empathizes with you and leads you to still waters of rest and refreshment (Ps 23:2). If there is one person who can unconditionally love you even when you don't feel like loving Him, it can only be Jesus.

Sometimes you may run away from Jesus because you feel like you know more than Him. Eventually you get caught in a snare that you cannot come out, you can only expect one person to arrive there and rescue you (Ps 139:8-10). It can only be Jesus for he knows His sheep's and he goes after His lost sheep until he finds it again and then rejoices for finding it again (Luke 15:5-6).

Which friend are you looking for to hear about your problems that you are facing today? David the great king realised that "...the help of man is useless." (Ps 60:11). Once he realised this truth he became a happy man because of taking all his day to day problems to God and thus finding all His strength, comfort and his satisfaction in Him.

Look to the true friend Jesus who will never fail you even once and you will find your true self-identity in relating to Him.

A brother is born to help in time of adversity (Prov 17:17), "[but]...there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother" (Prov 18:24). He is your true friend Jesus who can never fail you. So be close to Him always.
