Many years ago, there was a snake – charmer. He was an expert in his trade. He could catch any snake and make it dance to his tune. People enjoyed watching his snakes dance. Once he went to a mountainside to catch some snakes. There he saw a small mountain – snake. He was captivated by its beauty. He brought it back to the town and started training it.
People warned him. They said it was highly dangerous to have that snake with him. But he never listened to them. What do they know about snakes? He had always loved snakes and they had always obeyed him. What can possibly go wrong now?
He took very special care of the small mountain – snake and taught him some nice tricks. The snake was growing at an alarming rate. People kept warning him. But his “snake – charmer instinct” kept reassuring him that all was well and there was no need to worry.
He and the mountain – snake would perform a special trick. At his command, the snake would climb over his body and give him a big “bear – hug” or shall we say, a big “snake – hug”? Then at his next command, the snake would climb down from his body and safely go back into his big basket. This went on for some years. People were delighted with this trick, but still kept warning him.
By now the snake – charmer was making a lot of money. He was enjoying the show very much. One day it was “business – as – usual” for him. He gave the command as usual and the snake obeyed as usual. It was a great show as usual. But, when the snake – charmer gave the second command, it turned out to be “business – unusual!” The snake refused to climb down from his body. He tried to get rid of the snake, but it would not let him go. Then, the snake started crushing him with the bones and the snake – charmer was killed. All because he would not give heed to the warning!
Sin is like a snake. Sin enters your life by your small wrong choice that you make to allow it to enter in to your life. Then as you play with it, it will definitely amuse you to a certain extent. It might even give you a false sense of confidence that it is under your command and control like it did to the snake charmer. Then it will begin to amuse many people through your indulgence as your spread it to make money out of it or spend as much as you have. Finally as you become under the bondage and grip of sin, it will make you feel that it is business as usual. When the delusion of the lie becomes like a strong truth as it seems to you, that is when it becomes business unusual and the snake of sin will bite with it deadly poison which leads to instant death in various areas of your God given life. Sin leads to death is the absolute truth that should always be kept in our minds, though sometimes death in our soul may get delayed as the mercy of God extends to save us who are lost in our pet sin. Sin thrills absolutely for sometime, but kills absolutely in the end too.
NO, DO NOT BE DECEIVED. COME BACK TO GOD NOW. CONFESS IT TO HIM. ASK HIM TO HELP YOU FORSAKE IT. HE’S READY TO RECEIVE YOU!!
"HE WHO CONCEALS HIS SINS DOES NOT PROSPER, BUT WHOEVER CONFESSES AND RENOUNCES THEM FINDS MERCY!" (Proverbs 28:13).
